Bram Van Beek is a PhD candidate at the University of Antwerp, affiliated to the Research Center for Visual Poetics (dept. of Literature). He holds a BA in philosophy from Paris-Sorbonne University, an MA in philosophy from the Catholic University of Leuven and an MA in Film and Photographic Studies from Leiden University. He previously worked as a project assistant at the photography museum in Antwerp (FOMU), where he was an editor for .tiff magazine and Trigger. He also held the position of managing editor at Depth of Field, an online, peer-reviewed journal on visual culture hosted by Leiden University. His research interests include: the question of rhythm and duration in postmodern dance and the articulation of space and place in photographic practices. In his doctoral research he investigates the relationship between (trans)national identities and contemporary Belgian cinema. Van Beek has written on cinema, photography and contemporary art for various online and offline platforms such as EXTRA, H Art and F.R.A.C.
