Bram Van Beek is a PhD candidate at the University of Antwerp, affiliated to the Research Center for Visual Poetics (dept. of Literature). He holds a BA in philosophy from Paris-Sorbonne University, an MA in philosophy from the Catholic University of Leuven and an MA in Film and Photographic Studies from Leiden University. Aside from his research, he is an editor for Trigger and Sabzian. Van Beek previously worked as a project assistant at the photography museum in Antwerp (FOMU) and held the position of managing editor at Depth of Field. In his doctoral research he investigates the relationship between (trans)national identities and contemporary Belgian cinema. Other research interests include: the question of rhythm and duration in postmodern dance and the articulation of space and place in photographic practices. Van Beek has written on cinema, photography and contemporary art for various online and offline platforms such as EXTRA, H Art, F.R.A.C. and Sabzian.
